Companion mode Available for WhatsApp beta for Android
WhatsApp has introduced new features such as Communities, self-chat, unread filtering, and more. In addition, the most awaited companion mode’ is now being added to the app’s beta version by the developers.
The feature, available on WhatsApp Beta for Android 126.96.36.199, was first spotted by WABetaInfo earlier this year and is reportedly under development.
To summarise, it helps users to connect their WhatsApp account to other android devices, such as a tablet or mobile.
If you are enrolled in WhatsApp beta, install WhatsApp on an Android tablet. Then, navigate to the ‘Settings app on your primary device and select ‘Linked Devices.’
You’ll see an automatically generated QR code that allows you to connect to your other device. It will also sync your chat history on your other device, like WhatsApp desktop.
However, because the feature is still in beta, some features, such as viewing live locations and managing broadcast lists and stickers, are currently unavailable.
The Companion mode is an additional feature for the Multi-device support, which enables you to connect up to four devices and use WhatsApp on any of the available options.
It does not currently include another phone or tablet. However, there’s a chance you’ll be able to link more than two smartphones to a single WhatsApp account.
