Screem – open source HTML/XML editor for Linux
Screem (Site Creating and Editing Environment) is an free and open source tag based HTML/ XML editor for Linux and UNIX. it mainly focus on to improve productivity when you developed a website, by providing quick access to commonly used elements via toolbar buttons which insert the markup at the current cursor position. While it is written for use with the GNOME desktop environment in mind but it does not specifically require you to be running it, just have the libraries installed.
Screem is a not WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor like Adobe Dreamweaver, it’s a WYSIWYM (What You See Is What You Mean) editor which enabling finer control over the HTML being created.
It has some unique features which make him totally different from other editor such as automatically closing all HTML tags, support for Dreamweaver templates, good number of wizards to help with the addition of multimedia content, versatile XML file editing, broken links checking, support for CTags file, CVS support, document structure display, DTD/Doctype Parsing, Inline Tagging, Link Fixing, Page previewing, Publishing with Sitecopy, Tag trees, Task management and many more….
